Yesterday was November 2nd, All Souls Day. It's a big deal here. Thousands and thousands of people go to the cemetary to visit graves of loved ones. The cemetary here in San Felix is situated in such a way that there is only one road to and from it and apparently the traffic is absolutely terrible. The cemetary is typically a dangerous place here, it isn't patrolled by police or anything so malandros (thieves/killers/bad people all rolled into one word) hang out there and rob people visiting loved ones graves. Yesterday because there were so many people I don't think it would be as dangerous but on a normal day it's a really sketchy place.
For the last week or so people have been coming to the church office to add names of loved ones who have passed away to the list for the All Souls Day mass. They do this for every mass, and read the names at every mass, but for last nights mass there were at least 500 names. To avoid the reader stumbling over them, I added the names, "Patricio Leonard, Maria Clara Leonard, and Juan P. Fox". It was cool to hear the names of my grandparents and a good friend of mines father as part of the mass.
